Yesterday I posted an article on media bias–which isn’t really news anymore, or shouldn’t be since it’s so palpable–but the item was still newsy since it related to the forever bridesmaid, John Breck Boy Edwards. The National Enquirer, which sometimes does get things right, had re-outed a story that had been out but ignored for some six months involving Edwards, a harried-looking woman, their love child, and their wee hours rendezvous at the Beverly Hilton.
Now that assignation has taken on a credible aura since the cops are involved. The two Enquirer reporters, guests at the Hilton, had spotted Edwards, a visitor at the hotel, as he tried to slither out of the place. They attempted to interview him to no avail. He scurried down the hall, sought asylum in a basement men’s room, and Johnny barred the door.
The reporters have filed criminal charges against the Hilton’s security staff. For details: http://www.nationalenquirer.com/update_john_edwards_affair_criminal_complaint_filed/celebrity/65209
More relevant to media bias, the LA Times has forbidden its bloggers from even mentioning the sordid tale, allegedly because it came from the disreputable Enquirer, more likely because it’s true. http://www.slate.com/id/2195914/#latedict
(The mass media previously ignored a little White House story about Monica and Bubba because it originated with the disreputable Drudge Report.)
Even more relevant to media bias is the report that media contributions to Democrats are running 100-1 more than their Republican donations. http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=301702713742569
Stay tuned.
UPDATE JULY 27, 2008: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,391426,00.html
Since this update emanates from FOX NEWS, regarded by the liberal mass media as being of the same ilk as The National Enquirer, don’t expect any coverage by that mass media. In essence, it confirms that the Breck Boy, squeaky-clean former senator and fully vetted Obama VP John Edwards, had indeed been caught, figuratively at least, with his guard and pants down.
Will Obama come to his defense and say Johnny was just trying to illustrate his two Americas?
