Testing, Testing Obama 1,2,3

Macbeth: “Is this a dagger which I see before me…” Macbeth (II, i, 33)

I doubt President Obama sees any daggers, real or imagined, but he may see tests before him, tests which could serve as daggers at America’s throat.

VP Biden, before he was VP Biden, had warned that tests would happen.  See “Is Biden’s ‘Test’ on the Near Horizon . . . http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=876 and “Testing Obama,”  http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=626.

Back in October, the prescient Joe said, “We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America.  Remember, I said it standing here, if you don’t remember anything else I said:  Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

Pal Joey apparently was forthwith muzzled, squelched, told to shut up shortly thereafter and never again spoke of testing “the mettle [the character] of this guy,” “this guy” meaning the President Presumptive at the time, Senator Barack Hussein Obama.

Well, that test or tests, international and domestic, in political-speak have been “generated,” in real-speak have “hit the fan,” and we shall shortly see the depth of Obama’s “brilliance” and character.

The domestic testing has been ongoing and is a carryover from the administration of Bush II and mainly, but not exclusively, has consisted of the banking, mortgage, economic mess.   Only time will tell whether history assigns Obama, and therefore America, a passing grade.

At this point, Wall Street has evidently decided on a  resounding “F” for the new president and for his wonder boy, tax-cheating Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner.  Their mindless profligacy in tossing around a trillion here, a trillion there of taxpayer dollars have been met with a clear vote of no confidence and a drop of thousands of points on the Dow.

After being clued in by Bill Clinton, Obama’s suspended his very peculiar gloom and doom, crisis here, crisis there, approach to inspiring Americans in favor of the pep-talky, “Hey, we can do it, folks!”  But the damage had already been done.

Main Streeters and Wall Streeters seem to be thinking, Will the real president please stand up and do something constructive?  Both should be cautioned not to expect much in that regard since Obama has admitted that he regards the DJIA as nothing more than a “tracking poll” and neither he nor Michelle Obama own any stocks according to their tax returns.  So, who cares?

Obama’s other testing fields are overseas, in foreign nations and in international waters and so far he seems to have adopted a very diplomatic, hands-off, do nothing, wait and see approach.

North Korea’s Kim Jong-il,    maniacal loose-cannon extraordinaire, thrives on war and rumors of war and gets his jollies by launching missiles and threats, the latest being to shoot down civilian airliners near its airspace and warning of all-out war if we dare to shoot down its satellite:  http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=44687.

The latest news out of Pyongyang is that the paranoid Kim Jong-il has cut its military hotline with South Korea and is in process of mobilizing his million man army.  The reason?  Fear of invasion by the United States and South Korea:  http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/d5d6fd4a-0c60-11de-b87d-0000779fd2ac.html.

It’s as realistic to expect a U.S. invasion of North Korea as it is to expect us to invade Tibet, but realism never enters the equation when it comes to Kim’s thinking.

Iran’s equally unstable nutcase, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

hurls similar threats, threatens missile and nuclear strikes–when Iran’s nuke facilities are up and running– and now demands the United States apologize for 60 years of wrongs against Iran:  http://topics.nytimes.com/topics/reference/timestopics/people/a/mahmoud_ahmadinejad/index.html

Mahmoud’s very selective memory must have “dis-remembered” when his Ayatollah Khomeini ordered the illegal storming and capture of our Tehran embassy in 1979.  I have to assume that he does not consider imprisoning 52 Americans for 444 days as something worthy of an Iranian apology.

There is, however, another explanation, namely that Mahmoud does recall President Jimmy Carter’s, America’s, feckless response to that grave offense and he seriously does expect an apology from President Obama.

He may get it if Obama fails this test.

Iran and North Korea are comparative pipsqueaks on the world stage and their incessant testing could be ended within weeks, or days, if Obama has the nerve to advise both nations that, starting with their leaders, they will be reduced to molten puddles should they dare any funny business.

Fat chance, but hope springs eternal.

More ominous tests, one clearly and intentionally “generated” by a wannabe superpower, the other the result of an inept government allowing drug criminals to go berserk on their own soil, are on Obama’s horizon.

The inept government is that of Mexico’s Felipe Calderon and his ineptitude is a test for Obama only because of Mexico’s 2000 mile border with the United States and the four states immediately adjacent to Mexico and the fact that its criminal element now is overflowing into those states, and further north.

Houston is already feeling the effects...

Stephen Baldwin Takes on Hollywood--sort of

Stephen Baldwin Takes on Hollywood, (Sort of)

Stephen Baldwin,  the good brother in the Baldwin clan, thinks Hollywood sucks.

He didn’t quite put it that way but that’s essentially how he seems to feel regarding the excessive violence and sexual themes prevalent in movies produced in Hollywood:  http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=44591.

That’s really not news to anyone who lays out ten bucks or more at their local movie house or to people who rent their flicks from Blockbuster or Netflix.  What is a revelation is Baldwin’s allegations as to why the crap fills so many of America’s big screens and home theater screens.

I should qualify that comment.  Many of us are fully aware of the reasons Hollywood consistently churns out violent and trashy garbage, and it’s not because they are moneymakers.  In actuality, family fare films return far more profit to movie studios.

What then is the rationale for refusing to film more family flicks if not the almighty dollar?  Asked a question specific to the Oscar awarded to Milk and whether, like Brokeback Mountain, which won 3 academy awards in 2006, Milk won because of its homosexual theme, Baldwin says it’s because, “Hollywood and the Academy has [sic] an agenda every year.”

Good gracious!  Is he charging that there is a conspiracy on the Left Coast?  Is he alleging there is some kind of “moral issue” driving producers to turn out more and more films featuring graphic sex and violence?  Is he contending that there’s a Hollywood cabal that is interested more in corrupting the minds and souls of moviegoers, especially young moviegoers’ minds and souls, than in producing wholesome films?

Baldwin’s answer is, yes, to all of the above.

Baldwin forthrightly says, “I think that a small core group of individuals that make a lot of the decisions about what that content is going to be are in charge.”  He adds that, “80 percent of [that content] is negative and violent and immoral and 20 percent of it is positive and happy and friendly and joyous and family [and] that’s an imbalance.”

No kidding, Stephen, an imbalance that greed can’t explain since that 20 percent adds far more to the bottom line per picture than the 80 percent.

Baldwin went on to explain...

Confusion in the Obama Abortion World

Hialeah, Florida abortion mill owner, Belkis Gonzalez, was all in a dither.

A customer/client, teenager Sycloria Williams, 23 weeks pregnant, delivered a baby sitting in a chair in Gonzalez’ mill, apparently after Gonzalez had botched aborting Williams’ baby.

What to do?

Well, our new president  set the standard, no?  After all, he voted, twice, as an Illinois state senator to just let babies die if they happened to survive a screwed up abortion.  And, he had voted in the U.S. Senate in favor of partial birth abortions whereby full-term babies could have their lives terminated and their bodies dissected piece by piece.

(Please see http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=803 for background on the Hialeah “incident” and http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=787 for an extended piece on your president–not mine–and why your president–not mine endorses the literal murder of defenseless infants.  His rationale?  “Well, look, if the mother-to-be decided she instead wanted to kill her baby, who are we to disagree?  Trash the damned baby!”)

What else could Gonzalez do?  Defy her president’s wishes? . . .

Is that a North Korean Missile?

Is Biden’s “Test” on the Near Horizon Or Is That a North Korean Missile?

North Korea has again been making noises about hurling a missile somewhere.  The where doesn’t count for Kim il-Sung    as much as the hurling since that act will prove the North Koreans are capable of hurling something aside from propaganda.

Here is a shot of the North Korean army marching in rigid formation in hopes of getting a meal at the end of their day, instead of having to forage and chew and digest the usual tree bark:

The U.S. is ready, willing and able to shoot down that missile, according to Admiral Timothy Keating, head of U.S. Pacific Commands.  Without using the words, Keating said that it only remains for President Barack Hussein Obama to demonstrate that he has balls enough to issue the order:  http://abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=6965611&page=1.

Therefore, the question is not as much can we do it as it is whether Obama has the testicular fortitude to do it.  Surely, he would incur the wrath of George Soros and his leftist ilk if he elects to demonstrate America’s refusal to allow North Korea to intimidate and threaten South Korea, the rest of that region, and possibly our Left Coast.

Mindless and senseless pacifism, Neville Chamberlain’s policy of “peace [at any cost] in our time,” is a policy that always leads to war.

The maniacal Kim il-Sung is barely more than a pesky gnat and he and North Korea present a relatively insignificant threat to our mainland security.  The true test will be of Obama’s mettle.  Should he permit this missile launch without authorizing its immediate destruction, he will be sending a very clear signal that America has once again become the America of Jimmy Carter.

If that happens, hang onto your hats and search out those abandoned backyard bomb shelters.  They just may become very useful, again.

The Wicked Witch of D.C.--Helen Thomas

Thomas is seen here with Gerald Ford in 1975 while still in her, relative, prime:

Fox News Channel talk show host Bill O’Reilly and writer/commentator Bernie Goldberg have been raked over the coals for criticizing and ridiculing Thomas for cackling at Obama’s press conference Monday.  See the one-sided story and video here:  http://www.asylum.com/2009/02/11/oreilly-caws-like-a-crow-and-other-moments-in-punditry/?icid=200100397×1219027621x1201241210.

This is admittedly extremely rude, sort of Helen-Thomas-like, but she has never been a “looker,” which is an unfortunate fact of life which often accounts for biddies and/or frustrated reporter-ettes evolving into shrieking, cackling, angry harridans, a profile which could have been written for Ms. Thomas.

It’s important to realize that Thomas is not just your average old lady, not a grand- and great-grandmotherly type who forgets her keys and maybe even where she lives.  She seems far from that stage.  When she gets down in the political trenches, which is her usual venue, she need not be accorded any more deference than any other political maven or maven-ette.

Simply because she happens to be twice Katie Couric’s age and more, like Couric, when she exceeds the bounds of civil political reporting and questioning, she deserves to get her comeuppance.  If she can’t stand the heat Good Ol’ Helen should vacate the political kitchen, a scenario which is as likely as Couric’s wising up and retreating to limited appearances on The View.

Of course, with Obama, for whom she carries on as she might have as a young girl with Rudolph Valentino, Thomas isn’t likely to get overly pushy or downright rude as she has in the past with Republican presidents.  She did ask one pertinent, and absurd, question of the new president when she referred to “these so-called terrorists” in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

As they say, Helen is Helen and she has a history.

Six years ago, speaking before an expectedly enthused audience at an MIT Communications Forum, she took the gloves off her gnarled hands and said, “I censored myself for 50 years when I was a reporter.  Now I wake up and ask myself, ‘Who do I hate today?’ “

Now, isn’t that just special!  For years assigned a front row seat at presidential briefings and news conferences, Ms. Thomas starts her day with determining the source of her venom....

The Census

With all the controversy over Obama’s devious stimulus/porkulous, why get bogged down in another controversy over the national census.   Who cares?

Well, anyone in his right mind should care!

First of all, it is mandated in our Constitution that once a decade there should be a headcount to determine just how many people are residing in the United States since it’s rather important to know.  The actual constitutional language reads, “Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”  In compliance thereof, every ten years since 1790 said count has been tallied.

(For those keeping a population score, and someone should so inform Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as of February 10th, 2009, some 305,785,763 bodies and souls reside and live on our shores, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.  That number represents a semi-educated guess, an estimate, based on projections since the next national census isn’t due until 2010.  It may in fact be a wild estimate due to the nation’s apparent lack of interest in how many illegal aliens have moved in.)

Secondly, for almost 220 years now, that census has been taken some 21 times by our government but by a semi-autonomous arm of our government.  The U.S. Census Bureau, an agency of the the Department of Commerce, has been tasked with that responsibility since 1903.

Third, the “decennial census,” a term adopted by the government has, like all things governmental, ballooned in its scope.  Rather than a mere headcount comparable to counting how many people board a plane, the Census Bureau is now charged with such disparate responsibilities such as determining data on which to base allocation of about $300 billion for state and local public initiatives–and boondoggles.

Three hundred billion dollars is a relative pittance nowadays in a multi-trillion dollar federal budget but it’s not chump change either.

Finally, and as Hamlet observed, “Ay, there’s the rub.”  That justifiably-disturbed Dane was contemplating ethical obstacles to his offing himself in his consternation over family problems.  America’s “rub,” hopefully, isn’t suicidal but the Barack Obama/Rahm Emanuel conspiracy does border on homicidal.

Anyone Check Gov. Sibelius' Tax Returns?

Rumors are afoot that 2-term Democratic Kansas Governor Kathleen Sibelius File:Sebelius speaking with troops in Pakistan, 27 Nov, 2005, cropped.jpgis on the short list to replace tax cheat Tom Daschle as Secretary of Health and Human Services:  http://news.aol.com/main/obama-presidency/article/sebelius-health-and-human-services/332995?icid=200100397×1218695187x1201247115.

Sibelius was said to have been on Obama’s short list for VP but came up short that time since Obama wanted a brilliant, discreet, well-spoken guy for that spot, although he settled for Joe Biden.  The governor was also an also-ran in 2004 when John Kerry wanted a brilliant, discreet, and well-spoken guy as his running mate but picked John Edwards instead.

Sibelius seems to fit the president’s needs and social policies at HHS:

ABORTION:  (Obama Grade: A+)  A Catholic, she was endorsed by Planned Parenthood, vetoed legislation which would have restricted abortion in Kansas four times, and last year vetoed a bill that would have restricted late term abortions.  Kansas City Archbishop Joseph Nauman asked that she not continue to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion because of her failure to protect pre-born human beings.

EDUCATION:  (Obama Grade:  A-)  After the state was ordered by the Kansas Supreme Court to increase funding for education, Sibelius  raised taxes on income, property, and sales, resulting in 3-year, one billion dollar increase in moneys for K-12 schools but failed to show how she would pay for the hike in two of those years.

ENVIRONMENT:  (Obama Grade:  A)  The governor advocated more recycling and thrice vetoed, (she really enjoys her veto pen), coal-fired power plants and, instead of cheap and plentiful coal, pushed for a greater dependence on unproven wind energy technology and other non-polluting, and unreliable, energy sources.

GUNS:  (Obama Grade:  B-)  With lots of hunters and sports shooters in Kansas, Sibelius supports the Second Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms but twice vetoed, (again), “concealed carry” bills.  Her veto was overridden  the second time.

SAME SEX MARRIAGE  (Obama Grade:  B)  She refused to support an amendment to the Kansas constitution that would have prohibited same sex marriages, saying current laws in place made it unnnecessary.  Seventy percent of Kansans disagreed with the governor and the amendment is now part of the constitution.

CAPITAL PUNISHMENT:  (Obama Grade:  A)  Sibelius opposes capital punishment and the Kansas Supreme Court agreed with her and declared it unconstitutional.  That decision was overruled by SCOTUS and capital punishment laws remain on the Kansas books.

All in all, things look pretty good for the governor’s chances of dumping Kansas for D.C., although no word yet on whether she fulfills Obama’s requisite of cheating on her taxes or employing illegal aliens or being caught up in New Mexican type corruption.

(Much of the above information on Governor Sibelius, sans  commentary, is based on a Wikipedia article)

A Shot Across Obama's Abortion Bow

Ruby’s proposal, “The Personhood of Children Act,” would extend recognition of that most basic status to all children, from the moment of conception:  http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=43109.

The proposal further states that dismemberment and/or torture of said persons shall be treated as felonious acts.

For the complete text of the bill, see here:  http://personhoodnorthdakota.com/.

Similar proposals are in the works in Maryland and every other state to save the lives of the pre-born and of babies born and left to die on tables or in the trash at abortion mills.

Pro-life activists at the recent March for Life in Washington D.C., used posters and banners to send a message to President Barack Obama. (CNSNews.com/Penny Starr)

Rape, Rapists, and Rape-ees in Jihad World

The very word “rape” is supremely ugly, worse by far than the “N-word,”  conjuring images of defenseless, vulnerable girls and women being violated by some bestial excuse of a human being.

The merry, marauding murderers at al-qaeda have taken rape a few steps down the slippery slope of human depradation and now employ the act as a terrorist tool.

It’s easy to visualize al-qaeda leaders conferencing in some filthy hovel, looking all the world like dirty demons gathered around a dung fire and planning how best to execute their “holy war,” according to the dictates of the Qur’an and their long-dead prophet, Mohammed. Illustration of Muhammad

(Feel free to translate the following into Arabic and Farsi:)

“My brother, Ahmed.  May Allah be with you!”

“And with you, Osama, and may Allah’s light forever shine upon you and may…”

“Cease the infidel drivel, Ahmed, or I will tear that tongue out of your camel-breath mouth and serve it baked in hummus to your whore of a mother.  We are here to plan, not to speak in great words of praise!”

“May Allah strike me dead on this sand covered floor, O, great Osama, if I ever offend you!  But, yes, we are here to plan.  Allahu Akhbar!  And may Allah keep you safe and great…”

“You test my patience, Ahmed.  You do recall what I did to your vile snake of a sister...

Our Kids' World: Trannies and Junkies

Three stories that make you wonder:

When Tim became Kim–The World’s Youngest Transsexual:

In Germany, Tim Petras, aged 16, had a problem.  He had always felt like a girl and wanted to be one, not be with one, which is the ambition of most teenage boys, but to be one, which is not the ambition of most teenage boys. http://news.aol.com/health/article/teen-sex-change-kim-petras/331320?icid=200100397×1217958690x1201234047.

Little else is known about Kim, nee’ Tim, except that he was forced to wait until 16 to have his legal surgery to repair what he considered was a mistake of nature but whether that unripe age is sufficiently mature is questionable.  He evidently had known his own mind for a good while, though, having started hormone treatments four years earlier.

Based on the pictures on the above link, Tim may have been correct and Little Kim now looks forward to using the ladies’ . . .

Story # Two:

When Liz Became a Junkie–It Was ALL Mom’s Fault:

Elizabeth Brockovich, daughter of single mom, Ellen Brockovich, “said she began experimenting with drugs while her mother was out campaigning or promoting the hit Hollywood film:” http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1134981/My-mothers-fame-drove-drug-addiction-says-daughter-campaigner-Erin-Brockovich.html.

I seem to be missing the time frame here since the movie, “Erin Brockovich,” which starred Julia Roberts as her mother, was released in 2000 when daughter Elizabeth was a mere nine years of age.

Then, again, who knows?  If single mom Erin was so immersed in spreading the word about various pollutions, she could have neglected her 9 through 12 through 17 year old daughter in her quest for fame and fortune.

Liz apparently used her neglect and free time by becoming a junkie and blamed Erin.  She started with pot at 12, moved on to coke by 14, ignored her mother and stole money to support her habit, but doesn’t admit to any other indiscretions which customarily are associated with a teen girl sliding into . . .

Finally, Story # 3:

Compliments of MassResistance.com, we are advised, as if we were unaware, that transgendering is not a phenomenon confined to Tim/Kim Petras’ Germany:  http://massresistance.com/docs/gen/09a/tran_custodian/index.html.

Massachusetts has long been attempting to have LGBT aberrants accepted as normal and the above link clearly demonstrates that kids and the parents of those kids in the Clara Barton Elementary School in Oxford, Massachusetts have been advised to take it or lump it.

Superintendent of Oxford Public Schools, Ernest Boss, and Barton Principal Norman Yvon informed parents that one of Barton’s custodians “used to be a man” but is now a woman, sort of, and that no disrespect of his/her new gender would be tolerated.

Translation:  Our transgendered brethren are people too and . . .

How To Trash Babies--Obama-style

In yet another instance of America’s moral retrogression, a baby was born in Hialeah, Florida and, in line with President Obama’s thinking and voting as an Illinois state senator, was disposed of in the garbage.

Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacques Renelique was late arriving at a Florida clinic to perform an abortion on a teenager who was 23 weeks pregnant.  He botched the procedure and the baby was born alive.  Undismayed and apparently too rushed to attempt to save the child’s life, the doctor allowed a clinic owner to place the living, breathing baby in the trash where it was allowed to die.

Dr. Renelique was accused of medical malpractice and his license to kill was suspended: http://www.buffalonews.com/260/story/570428.html.

He has a great defense in case he appeals.  Our president had set the standard in Illinois when he twice voted in favor of Renelique’s approach to an infant’s right to life: http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=787.

Michael Newdow Rides Again!

Michael Newdow Rides Again!

You really have to wonder about a guy who tells someone that his only child was the product of a date rape and he was the victim.

According to one source, http://www.nndb.com/people/981/000049834/, Michael “Newdow claims he was the victim of date rape, perpetrated by [the mother of the child, Sandra] Banning during a camping trip at Yosemite National Park. [Mikey declares] ‘I specifically said “no” multiple times before and during [sex]. Was I forced into being a father? Yeah.’ ”

That must make his daughter feel awfully warm and fuzzy to know that her daddy was raped by her mommy.  When she gets a little older, she may begin to wonder how any guy can be forced to have sex with a woman in a public park.  She may begin to have more respect for her mom but, as for her dad, she may wonder whether he’s a closet gay or just the world’s biggest wuss.

That awful experience, which I suggest is as honest and truthful as her daddy is, didn’t deter Mikey from filing a lawsuit–on her behalf.  The poor, oppressed child was being forced to recite “The Pledge of Allegiance,” daily in her Sacramento school, including those foul words “under God,” and Mikey would have none of it and wasn’t going to tolerate that infringement on his child’s rights.

There was no evidence the child cared either way what she recited in school but Mikey went to court anyway, for her, of course, and not because he has been an atheist “since birth,” as he has said.  Those two words, “under God,” represented an affront to his, to her, beliefs even though she had not be known to profess any antipathy to God or any commitment to atheism, like her dad.

The case was thrown out since Mikey, an absentee father as well as a physician with a law degree, had no legal standing since he didn’t have custody of the child.

Still undismayed, and obviously with a lot of time on his hands, he ploughed on...

2008--THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY

2008–THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

As a tumultuous 2008 draws to a lurching close and a turbulent 2009 waits in the wings for the Times Square ball to drop tomorrow night, it’s an apt time to look back on the past year.

However, since every broadcast and cable network is already presenting its 2008 Year in Review, it would be redundant to do so here. Instead, I humbly offer my picks for the best, the worst, and the ugliest ”things” of 2008.

All of those categories feature multiple, worthy contestants although there are far fewer candidates vying for the peak of the good heap than there are for the bad and ugly top spots.

Far and away the best thing to happen to America over the past year would also have to be the choice for the past seven years as well, namely a non-event, the fact that the nation has not suffered another terrorist attack in almost 88 months.

That fact has led to a distinctly blase’ attitude among many Americans who have pushed memories of 9/11/2001 to back burners or have pushed it off the stove entirely, which is extremely unfortunate since those who forget the past historically ended up reliving it in the future.

Despite one’s view of President George W. Bush, he has to be accorded his due. Our national security programs and systems are deeply flawed, as has been pointed out in this space, but they have evidently been sufficiently effective, so far.

What the future holds, what 2009 and ensuing years have in store for us, is speculative at best but, as of now, we are relatively secure as a nation so the best thing not to happen to America in 2008 is easily the absence of another assault. For that, Americans should be deeply thankful and should be praying the situation continues. GWB deserves tip of the hat.

I struggled to choose the worst thing about 2008 because of the more subjective nature of such a choice....

HERB SANDLER PURGES SNL

Anyone who remembers the early years of “NBC’s Saturday Night,” later called, “Saturday Night Live,” or “SNL,” with its not-ready-for-prime-time-players, is aware that all subsequent efforts to replicate the original have fallen far short of both its success and its innovative brand of humor.

Of the original cast, the pratfalling Chevy Chase is now washed-up, the insanely riotous John Belushi and Gilda Radner are long dead as is the later arrival but almost as funny, Chris Farley.   Such personalities as Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman, and Bill Murray went on to some limited measures of post-SNL success.

The notoriously-unfunny Al Franken, who always played his schleppy self, went on to host a failed, liberal talk show and is now in process of stealing a United States Senate seat from Republican, Norm Coleman.

With the exception of Franken, the old, improvisational SNL players had at least a modicum of comedic talent as opposed to the newest crew which should be ready for prime time a few months after hell freezes over.

Even after enticing producer Lorne Michaels back to the show some years back, it’s obvious that SNL will never reclaim its former glory, reasons for which include a lack of talent and the fact that SNL is rarely funny anymore since it has subjugated its humor to Big Media’s Political Correctness.

AmericanThinker.com perfectly illustrated the latter in the recent article on the former “Paper of Record” which prints all the news that fits, the soon-to-be-defunct New York Times:  http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/12/the_new_york_times_finally_get.html.
